Customer Reviews
Excellent for HEAVY lifters This is a very solidly made glove with a perfectly tailored fit: there is no "play" left in it, which is good, since excess play allows lifting gloves to slip out of optimal position. The padding is very well-designed for the serious weight-lifter: it's everywhere it needs to be for all the various pressure points of lifting via different hand grips. The glove's fingers fully cover (and slightly past) the proximal phalanges (first bone of each finger), where you need it for any heavy pulling work like deadlifts, rows, or even curls. Also, there is no excess glove structure anywhere it doesn't have to be -- so it doesn't feel bulky, even with all that protection built in. WARNING: A "regular Joe" who works out a few time weekly may be irritated by the stiffness of the rubber padding elements in (the palm of) this glove. This unusually stiff material is outstanding for gripping very heavy weights. For example, when benching, it helps distribute the pressure of the barbell better so you don't get that seering pain in the heel/crotch of your palms. But if you like to flex your hands between grabbing barbells and such, you'll feel the hardish elements sort of buckle up a little. I find this quite tolerable once you expect it, given the superior palm protection. But if that sounds unappealing to you, opt for Harbinger's "Trainer" glove - which I also just bought: it's oustanding too: very solid build; same excellent fit; and high quality padding in all the same places. (The only difference as I see it, is that the rubber grip elements in the "Big Grip" glove are firmer yet.) P.S. If you're wondering about getting a wrist-wrap glove instead for the first time, my feeling it this: braces and supports of any type just encourage riskier/sloppier training that ineviatably injurs and sidelines you with long-term or even permament reductions in your capacity to exercise. So, go non-wrist-wrap and listen to your body as you train: joint pain is almost always bad news (your body's cry for help before it's too late).
